AS the local State of Emergency in Tuvalu concludes today, Minister for Transport, Energy, Communications and Innovation, Simon Kofe, has outlined a comprehensive strategy to stabilise the nation’s energy infrastructure.

While recent power failures were attributed to distribution network faults rather than machinery failures, the government is securing temporary rental generators and expert technical assistance from international partners such as Japan and Australia.

Significant progress has been made in integrating solar energy into the grid by resolving previous communication and hardware compatibility issues.

To ensure long-term resilience, officials are currently upgrading fuel storage capacities and developing contingency plans to prevent future shortages.

The government is focusing on financial oversight and providing hardship assistance to vulnerable households affected by the power crisis.

These collaborative efforts aim to transition the country toward a more reliable and secure utility system as the emergency period ends.
