American SamoaThe American Samoa government ordered the closure of all day care centres in the territory on June 14, until further notice to curb the spread of a respiratory virus. The closure was approved by Lt. Gov. Talauega Eleasalo Ale, based on a recommendation from the Department of Health “because of the high number of children presenting with symptoms of the highly contagious” virus. Acting CEO of LBJ Tropical Medical Center, Dr Akapusi Ledua, told local media, “it's mainly affecting those who are less than a year old,” adding that about 50% require breathing support . . .
