USP ranked in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings

The University of the South Pacific (USP) has improved its rankings for two Sustainable Development Goals – SDG 14: Life Below Water and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings.

USP achieved an overall ranking of 801-1000 out of 2318 institutions ranked in the 2025 THE Impact Rankings. The 2025 rankings show an increase of over 350 participating institutions.

The regional university also maintained its rankings in the SDGs on quality education, decent work and economic growth and peace, justice and strong institutions.

USP Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Pal Ahluwalia said the rankings demonstrated USP’s continued commitment to education, sustainability, and global engagement.

“The THE Impact Rankings are the only global performance database trusted by teachers, students and stakeholders in its assessment of universities against the SDGs. Our rankings across multiple SDGs reflect the hard work and commitment of our students, researchers and staff,” he said.

“It also aligns with our role as the region’s premier institution for higher learning in providing learning and research that contributes to sustainability and the 2050 Blue Pacific Strategy.”

“We are pleased that this complements our work through the new Centre for Sustainable Futures (CSF), which focuses on key research areas that include oceans and climate.”

“While we celebrate this recognition, we also reaffirm our commitment to advancing the SDGs through USP’s research, innovation and collaboration.”
