Solomon Islands police leadership changes hands

Hail to the chief …. High praise as Solomons police commissioner Mangau retires

MATHIAS Lenialu will act as head of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force after the departure of Commissioner Mostyn Mangau.

The outgoing commissioner held the post for six years and was farewelled at a parade at the Rove Police Headquarters, Honiara, on Wednesday.

Mangau headed the RSIP during the successful security operations around the 2023 Pacific Games, national elections, and the 2024 Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting.

Prime MinisterJeremiah Manele said Mangau played a vital role in border management during the COVID-19 pandemic when police supported quarantine enforcement and public order officials while continuing essential policing services.

Mangau was also responsible for the launch of the RSIPF 10-Year Strategic Direction, which Manele described as a critical roadmap for reform, capability development and improved service delivery over the next decade.
