Ten PhD candidates from the Pacific have been named as recipients of the Norway Pacific Ocean Scholarship Programme (N-POC).
This first cohort of the N-POC scholarship includes Peter Emberson (Fiji), Laura Williams (Fiji), Ulamila Vakaloloma (Fiji), Fulori Waqairagata (Fiji), Kiali Molu (Tuvalu), Saunoa Komiti (Samoa), Hulita Fa’anunu (Tonga), Silia Leger (Tonga), Viliami Vakapuna (Tonga) and Martha Manaka (Solomon Islands).
The N-POC scholarship is a partnership in research between the University of Bergen in Norway and the University of the South Pacific (USP).
The programme involves ocean and climate research, ranging from the natural sciences to the social sciences and humanities.
These candidates will begin the programme in Semester 1 at USP this year which starts Monday, February 13.
