“MUSIC is more than entertainment; it is a bridge that connects hearts, cultures, and communities,” said German Ambassador Dr Andreas Prothmann as guests were welcomed to an evening of classical music.
The event, hosted by the German Embassy, featured internationally acclaimed German-Korean pianist Caroline Fischer, whose performance captivated the audience with technical brilliance, expressive sensitivity, and refined musical insight.
Dr Prothmann described the concert as a celebration of music’s unique power to surpass borders, connect people, and tell stories without words.
“Tonight, we harness this power to further deepen the friendly relations between Germany, Fiji, and the Pacific,” Dr Prothmann added.
Germany’s rich musical heritage—from Bach and Beethoven to contemporary composers—forms a cornerstone of its cultural identity.
Yet, as the Ambassador noted, it is through artists like Caroline Fischer that this tradition continues to thrive on the world stage.
Fischer, an award-winning pianist and musical ambassador for Germany, has performed in over 20 countries worldwide, including across Asia and the Pacific.
The two-hour concert, held at Suva’s Civic Centre, showcased Germany’s commitment to cultural diplomacy while highlighting the shared appreciation of the arts that strengthens ties between nations.
