FIJI and Wales entered their final pool match winless at the Women’s Rugby World Cup.

Josifini Neihamu scored a wonderful try, powering over after running a beautiful line and taking a timely offload from Asinate Serevi.

Kolora Lomani was brilliant – relentless on attack and gutsy in defense. Lomani even charged down the attempted conversion of Wales’ second try.

The Fijiana forward pack battled well up front. They were winning the lineouts as Jade Coates, Nunia Daunimoala and Alfreda Fisher soared high for possession.

Wales did not have an answer and were soon frustrated, giving away senseless and lazy penalties.

The Fijiana were equally as good in the scrums and surprised Wales in that aspect of the game too.

An entertaining first half as Fiji ran in a total of 4 converted tries. Fiji led 28–15 at half time.

Litiana Vueti is a brilliant goal kicker and was successful with boot all game. With more time and lessons in game knowledge, Vueti has the potential to be a world-class fullback.

Outside center, Verenaisi Ditavutu was outstanding for Fiji. She was defensively sound and massive in the line breaks.

Another standout player was halfback Setaita Railumu. She had a slow start in the beginning of this tournament but has totally turned her game around.

Wales was not out of the game yet. They came back strong after the break. Georgia Evans , Bethan Lewis and Kate Williams were leading the second half surge by Wales. They were rewarded for their hard work and scored 2 unconverted tries.

Fiji on the other hand were starting to make a lot of handling errors and gave away silly penalties.

Wales went for one last surge in the final minutes and Fiji were scrambling in defense. Karalaini Naisewa and Neihamu were superb over the rucks to make the desperate steals for Fiji.

Neihamu was deservingly awarded the player of the match as Fiji celebrated their 28–25 win over Wales.
