Despite the cold in Canberra, the Fijian Drua played like men possessed against the ACT Brumbies to earn their first win away.
The Drua also had to make some readjustments after Isikeli Basiyalo was injured in the early match. Head Coach Glen Jackson was forced to put Simione Kuruvoli on the right wing.
The Drua forwards dominated in the contact areas and won significant turnovers. Virimi Vakatawa played a huge influence in sparking the Drua backline moves. Issak Fines-Leleiwasa and Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula combined well in the playmaker roles.
The Drua controlled most of the possession and looked like they would going to thrash the Brumbies at home.
But the home side sparked a comeback in the second half, led by the elusive former Australia Sevens star Corey Toole.
Knock-ons were again prevalent but overall it was the Drua’s grit in defence that won the game for them tonight.
