BUSINESSMAN and pastor, Parmod Chand, is expected to be Fiji’s next parliamentarian after Employment Minister Agni Deo Singh passed away today.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that Singh died in Brisbane.
He praised the long time trade and National Federation Party member for dedicated service to the workers and people of Fiji.
The National Federation Party won five places in Parliament in the 2022 elections.
Chand, a Labasa-based bus operator and Assemblies of God pastor, polled 1857 votes and is the next eligible NFP member. He was previously elected to parliament in the 1994 general election.
Chand also served as an MP from 2017-2022 after former NFP President, Roko Tupou Draunidalo, resigned from the party and parliament.
