Bank notes to help visually impaired

FEATURES in Fiji’s new bank notes will help the visually impaired and improve security.

The new notes follow a review of currency under the Reserve Bank of Fiji Act.

Bank Governor Ariff Ali said the review led to new designs on the back of the banknotes and the makeup of a substrate or material that supports greater durability.

New security features to safeguard against the continued risk of counterfeiting have also been included.

President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, will unveil the notes which will enter circulation from January 2, 2026.
