SOLO Mara has been appointed Permanent Secretary for Fiji’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade after completing the Public Service recruitment process.

Mara takes over from Dr Raijeli Taga, whose contract as permanent secretary has expired.

Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade Sakiasi Ditoka welcomed Mara to the ministry, saying his appointment comes as Fiji continues to strengthen its diplomatic presence, trade engagement and international partnerships.

Ditoka also acknowledged Taga for her leadership and service during her tenure.

A three-week handover period will ensure continuity of the ministry’s work and an orderly transition.

Ditoka said the leadership change would not disrupt Fiji’s diplomatic and trade agenda, with the ministry continuing to work with its headquarters and overseas missions to advance the country’s national interests.
