David Gina elected Solomon Islands Deputy Speaker

SOLOMON Islands Member of Parliament for South New Georgia, Rendova and Tetepare, David Gina, has been elected unopposed as the country’s new Deputy Speaker of Parliament.

Prime Minister Matthew Wale and the GREAT Coalition Government congratulated Gina on his appointment, describing it as a significant milestone and expressing confidence in his ability to serve the office with integrity and diligence.

In a statement, the Government said Gina’s unopposed election reflected the confidence placed in him by fellow Members of Parliament and wished him success as he takes on the responsibilities of supporting the work of the National Parliament.

As Deputy Speaker, Gina will assist in presiding over parliamentary proceedings and help ensure the effective functioning of the legislature.

The appointment comes as the Solomon Islands Parliament continues its work on the Government’s legislative agenda under the GREAT Coalition Government.
