MFAT Recruiting Technical Experts to Support Government of Niue

THE New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) is partnering with the Government of Niue to strengthen essential public services, revenue systems, and infrastructure across the island. As part of this programme, MFAT is recruiting for three key technical adviser roles, all based primarily in Alofi, Niue.

These positions offer an opportunity to contribute to meaningful reform, build local capability, and support Niue’s long‑term economic and operational resilience.

Principal Adviser – Revenue Strategy

A senior specialist to drive revenue reform, strengthen collection systems, and support long‑term government fiscal sustainability.
Ideal for: an experienced leader in revenue administration, taxation, economics, or public financial management (10+ years), with strong advisory and change‑management skills.

Internal Auditor – Government of Niue

A highly experienced auditor to lead government‑wide financial audits, strengthen internal controls, and support fraud prevention and capability building.
Ideal for: a CA/CPA‑qualified senior auditor with public‑sector experience, strong investigative skills, and the ability to uphold independence in a small‑state context.

Electrical Inspector / Electrician

A hands‑on technical specialist to inspect and repair power meters and fuse boxes, identify faults and tampering, and support a safer, more reliable electricity network.
Ideal for: a qualified electrician or electrical inspector with at least 5 years’ experience in metering, diagnostics, and field‑based electrical work, ideally in remote or Pacific settings.
