Vanuatu international and Central Coast Mariners defender Brian Kaltak has been voted in the PFA Team of the Season for Australia’s A-League.
The imposing stopper has enjoyed an incredible season, his first full campaign as a professional player having signed for the Mariners in September of last year.
“When I found out this morning, I was extremely happy to have made the team of the season. In my first season with the Mariners and as a professional footballer, being in the team is a big achievement for me. I’m extremely happy about it,” Kaltak told the Mariners’ website.
“My journey this season has been pretty crazy to be honest. I just do my best on the field for the team. At times it has been a bumpy ride, getting my three red cards. To then end up being in the Team of the Season, I reckon that isn’t too bad.”
Already enjoying a successful year, Kaltak and the Mariners have the opportunity to cap the season off in style, with an A-League Grand Final to come on 3 June against Melbourne City at CommBank Stadium in Sydney.
The 20-cap Vanuatu international – who has enjoyed spells at Hekari United, Solomon Warriors and Auckland City FC – is aware of how much support he has, not just from Mariners fans but from the 300,000 following his every move from back home. “The game will be shown on television in Vanuatu. They will show the game live with the coverage so everyone in Vanuatu can watch it. My community and my family will all be watching it together in a community hall which will be really nice, said Kaltak.
