PROFESSOR Transform Aqorau has been reappointed Vice-Chancellor of the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) for a second five-year term.
The reappointment was formally endorsed by the SINU council on February 10.
A qualified lawyer and distinguished academic, Aqorau holds a PhD in Law from the University of Wollongong and an Honorary Doctor of Laws from the Australian National University. Before joining SINU, he held senior regional leadership roles, including Deputy Director of the Forum Fisheries Agency and founding Chief Executive Officer of the Parties to the Nauru Agreement.
During his first term as Vice-Chancellor, Aqorau led significant governance reforms, strengthened Council performance, enhanced donor engagement, and looked to build new international partnerships to support infrastructure development and academic programs.
Dr Morgan Wairiu, Pro-Chancellor of SINU, congratulated Professor Aqorau on his reappointment, saying that continuity of leadership will be important, as the University continues to strengthen academic quality, governance standards, and research capacity.
Aqorau’s reappointment signals SINU’s ongoing focus on stability, accountability, and expanding access to quality higher education in the Solomon Islands and the wider Pacific region.
