THE Bula FC-Tahiti United FC clash in OFC Round Four was a battle between sixth and seventh spot on the leader board.
On debut was Maikah Dau, 16, for seventh-place Bula FC, with Kaile Auvray impressive on the left wing while golden boy Roy Krishna lurked constantly in the middle, searching for opportunities to score.
For Tahiti, Tevita Waranaivalu was key to turning over the ball and moving it upfield to captain and striker Teaonui Tehau.
Pothin Poma and Bradley Ruiz coordinated well in the midfield for Tahiti to complement Waranaivalu’s hard-earned efforts in defence.
Matt Foord was incredible in goal for Bula FC, pulling off several brave saves.
Tahiti scored in the 16th minute, but the goal was disallowed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) due to a Tahiti handball.
After a scoreless first half, Bula showed some moments of brilliance as coach Stephane Auvray added Gabiriele Matanisiga and Setareki Hughes to the line-up for increased firepower.
In the 72nd minute, a long ball into Tahiti’s box presented a good chance for Hughes to score the first goal.
Minutes later, Hughes scored again, and Bula led 2 – 0.
Tahiti United tried to stage a comeback, but Bula slowed the pace and clung to their precious lead.
In the end, Bula FC won 2 – 0 against a highly skilled Tahiti United side.
