Solomons cabinet reshuffle

Solomon Islands’ Prime Minister, Jeremiah Manele

SOLOMON Islands Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele has reshuffled his cabinet and appointed new ministers.

Trevor Hedley Manemahaga, MP for Gao/Bugotu, was appointed Minister for Finance and Treasury. Harry Kuma, MP for North West Choiseul leaves Finance and returns to Commerce, Labour and Immigration which was previously held by Kuma.

They were sworn in by Acting Governor-General Rex Foukona.

The ministers will serve in Manele’s Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT).

“Both Ministers are well qualified for their respective roles,” Manele said.

“We expect them to provide strong leadership and give the required political direction in their ministries, with renewed vigor and innovative thinking.”

Manele said the appointments reinforced GNUT’s commitment to ensuring key sectors of the economy received strong political leadership and support.
