Samoa’s Electoral Commissioner Tuiafelolo John Stanley says the biggest problem his office is facing is reconciling information from voters to office records.
He told TV1Samoa News that they cannot find records in their office for 80 percent of the 128,000 names on the 2021 Electoral Roll.
So Tuiafelolo they now have to go through the registration process all over again for these voters.
The Office of the Electoral Commission staff is also finding some other inaccuracies and having to deal with them, creating more work.
The current registrations will continue around the country until September 2025.
There is a $2,000 tālā (US$721.65) fine for anyone who is not registered to vote.
