The twice weekly flights to Niue resumed last week on Monday, 01 April.
Niue Tourism Advisor, Hayden Porter says they double their capacity numbers with the increased flights and is the highest they have seen in the last four years due to the pandemic.
“What we would term as the peak season, obviously there was two flights running from November to the end of January which got our visiting friends and family to the island it’s really gearing up to maximise the demand after an eight-week gap,” he said.
Porter said this gave them an opportunity to finish a number of jobs at the airport, the interiors of the airport are all looking absolutely looking wonderful at the moment, new floors, air conditioning so all this happened within this gap period.
“What it means for numbers we double our capacity in numbers in terms of flights that come into Niue and we expect the first couple of months each of those flights is unlikely to be full but as a combined total there will a lot of people coming than in one flight,” he added
Porter says in regards to the continuation of two weekly flights they are currently working through these things with the Airline and its a decision they will have to make. Weekly flights to Niue are now on Mondays and Fridays.
