THE National Fire Authority (NFA) has urged Fijians to stay vigilant and observe fire safety measures during the upcoming festive season.
With Christmas and end-of-year celebrations approaching, NFA Chief Executive Officer Puamau Sowane issued a public reminder for everyone to exercise caution and responsibility.
Sowane said the festive period would be marked by an increase in social events, including weddings and other gatherings. He reminded the public that such occasions often led to a spike in accidents and urged everyone to be extra vigilant.
“We want to alert members of the public to be especially careful during this big period of celebration,” Sowane said.
He highlighted the dangers associated with fireworks and excessive alcohol consumption, both common during the season.
“Please be responsible and make sure that you look after your families and be very careful with fire safety in and around your homes,” he added.
