Fuel supplier Mobil Oil New Guinea Limited is committed to supplying fuel to the country during the current fuel crisis, says ExxonMobil PNG managing director Tera Shandro.
“For the past 102 years, an ExxonMobil affiliate, Mobil Oil New Guinea Ltd, has reliably supplied quality fuels and lubricants to Papua New Guinea,” Shandro said.
“Its current fuel supply operations are normal as they primarily come from ExxonMobil’s world class refinery in Singapore.
“Today, ExxonMobil and its affiliate companies’ commitment to Papua New Guinea remains firm.”
She said they were collaborating with the Government to increase their imports of fuel products into the country and looked forward to working with customers on their fuel needs.
Puma Energy, the exclusive supplier of aviation fuel in the country and other fuel, said it was reducing and stopping operations until it was in a position to fully operate given its challenges with banking and access to foreign currency.
The Government is leading talks for the Mineral Resources Development Company and ExxonMobil to set up a refinery in the country to supply aviation fuel (Jet A1).
The other fuel supplier is Total Energies, but Puma remains the only Jet A1 supplier.
