HOSTS Suva FC were stopped in their tracks by Mataks FC from Solomon Islands in a make or break match in the OFC Futsal Championship.

Mataks surged forward, firing at will with Owen Bunabo, Elis Mana and Clifford Misitana were connecting well before making their attempts at goal.

Calvin Do’oro finally sneaked a long pass down the court. Bunabo chased hard and smacked it through. Mataks led 1–0.

Merrill Nand quickly responded for Suva and fired one from way outside the box. Mataks goalkeeper Lordrick Afia was not able to make a save.

The pace of the game was fast and the passes started to connect once more for the Mataks FC. Captain Elis Mana finished off the first half with two goals for the visitors to lead 3–1 at halftime.

Coming back from the break, Suva lost early possession. Mataks pounced on the opportunity and Do’oro was there to score another goal.

Benjamin Mana fired in the final goal of the evening and Mataks FC toppled Suva 5–1.

Mataks FC will play a deciding game tomorrow (Friday) against the Southern Legions FC for a spot in the top two, but Suva’s chances are over.
