WINLESS Mataks FC and Gulf Komara FC were ready to showcase their skills on the court at Suva’s Vodafone Arena in this year’s OFC Futsal Men’s Champions League.
Mataks FC made some vital changes to their lineup and 17 year old Charles Kiniole got his first start in the tournament.
Captain Elis Mana dictated the attacking shapes for Mataks FC.
They rained shot after shot and it soon became a busy afternoon for Gulf Komara goalkeeper Laventine Monou. Mataks scored six goals in the first half – Elise Mana with two and one each to Eddie Kasute’e, Calvin Do’oro, Charles Kiniole and Owen Bunabo.
Gulf Komara pulled two back. They surged up the middle and Patrick Aisa scrambled one under Benjamin Maeidua. Ashley Eric also scored a fantastic goal to make it 6-2 at the break.
Gulf Komara fought hard in the second half with goals to Morris Frida, Patrick Aisa and Ronald Regy.
But Mataks FC scored through Kiniole, Do’oro and Bunabo, Geoffrey Lema and two to Elis Manaame to outclass Gulf Komara FC 12 – 5.
