Gallant Suva FC defence forces draw against AS PTT

UNBEATEN New Caledonian AS PTT were held scoreless by hosts Suva at the OFC futsal championship in Fiji’s capital.

The teams sized each other up in the first minutes  before shots started to rain in on both ends. Nikil Chand led the attack for Suva while Christ Pei was the danger man for AS PTT.

Rajneel Singh fired in a couple of shots but all attempts missed the mark.

Christ Pei, Jymael Upa and Michel Pimbe combined to lead the charge for AS PTT. But Suva’s goalkeeper Kitione Baleloa was guarding the goal with his life. A golden glove performance from Baleloa.

The score remained nil all at halftime.

After the break, AS PTT stuck to their game plan. The one touch soft and quick passes were working well for them. And they were firing on all cylinders once they were in Suva’s half court. But they were not getting past the gutsy Baleloa.

Suva spent most of the second half in defence. AS PTT were hot on attack with captain James Namuli issuing the orders as they searched for the winner.

The pace of the game was intense throughout and lifted even higher in the dying minutes as both teams searched for a goal.

Suva’s gallant defence held for a 0-0 result.
