The Fijian Drua have confirmed the signing of cult hero and damaging winger Eroni Sau.
He returns to the Drua after playing a key role in their NRC title campaign in 2018.
The 33-year-old will join the Drua this week from French ProD2 side Provence on a one-year deal.
“This is a homecoming of sorts for Eroni, who is very highly regarded in Fiji and internationally as a winger and centre,” coach Mick Byrne said in a statement.
“He is fierce both in attack and defence.
“Eroni is definitely a player who will excite our fans, and we are looking forward to him contributing to our continued growth as we get ready to embark on only our second Super Rugby Pacific season.”
Sau made his name for the Drua before transitioning to the seven-a-side format in 2017.
The barnstorming outside back enjoyed a breakout season, winning World Rugby Rookie of the Year after scoring 37 tries in the 2017-18 Series.
He would make his Fiji national debut in 2018, going on to play five Tests for his country.
Sau returns home after stints in Scotland with Edinburgh and French club USA Perpignan. It comes at the perfect time after the termination of Vinaya Habosi’s contract due to a high-level breach.
