Fiji advances immigration reform with final report handover.

FIJI expects to improve its immigration system by implementing the findings of a review of laws.

The review recommended clear, inclusive policies and fresh approaches to immigration services, a firm commitment to national security, and monitoring of worldwide best practices.

“Today we reach the end point of an undertaking – one that’s been forged through teamwork, dialogue, and a collective resolve to craft a modern, equitable, and secure immigration system, for Fiji,” Acting Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga said.

“The findings in this report will chart the government’s course as we strive to build a framework that’s secure, efficient, and fair – one that genuinely serves the people of Fiji.”

The review was carried out in partnership with the International Organization for Migration, the Ministry of Immigration, and the Fiji Law Reform Commission. The event brings the review to a close.

It marks a milestone in Fiji’s effort to bring its immigration laws into the 21st century, ensuring they line up with both the country’s own priorities and the standards set internationally.
