FIJI has been placed on tsunami watch after seismic activity 104 km from the Russian port of Kamchatka.
Residents in all coastal and low-lying areas in Fiji were notified of an earthquake measuring 8.7 on the Richter Scale and warned to watch for unusual currents and unexpected sea surges.
The Ministry of Lands’ Seismic Division will continue to monitor the situation and notify people by radio.
