AUCKLAND City put on a masterclass football clinic to bundle out Rewa FC 3 – 1 in the first semi-final of the OFC Men’s Champions League.
For a while, Rewa were brilliant to keep their defensive shapes in the middle and forced Auckland to only take long range shots and not approach inside the box. But the deadlock was broken when Gerard Garriga scored a fantastic goal in the 34th minute for Auckland City.
After relentless pressure, Nathan Rostron scored Auckland’s second goal right before halftime.
Auckland continued their domination in the second half. Matt Ellis easily beat the Rewa defenders to score their third goal in the 54th minute.
Rewa made some necessary substitutions. Josaia Sela scored a late goal for Rewa but that did not influence the outcome of the match. Auckland City is in to the grand final on Saturday.
