IT was a hot and humid Wednesday afternoon in Honiara as tournament leader Auckland FC took on fifth-place Vanuatu United FC in Round Four of the OFC Pro League.

The match was paused four times for “cooling breaks” as temperatures in Honiara reached 30°C during the day but felt closer to 44°C due to high humidity.

Aston Burns, James Bayliss, and Matthew Ellis led the attack for Auckland, but Vanuatu’s defence held firm.

Otto Ingham and Kerry Iawak tried hard for Vanuatu, but despite several attempts, could not find the net.

In the end, it was Auckland 0–Vanuatu 0 on a hot and humid Honiara afternoon.
