THE 6th Korea-Pacific Islands Forum Foreign Minister’s Meeting opened today in Seoul.
The meeting runs from 8-10 December 2025 under the theme “Partnerships for a Resilient, Peaceful and Prosperous Pacific.”
Foreign Minister’s from across the region are gathering to advance cooperation with the Republic of Korea.
The meeting is co-chaired by Korea’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hyun Cho, and Solomon Islands Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Peter Shanel Agovaka.
Since 2011, the Korea-Pacific Islands Foreign Minister’s Meeting has served as a key platform for strengthening strategic engagement. It has also deepened development cooperation and fostered mutual understanding between Korea and the Pacific Islands Region.
The partnership continues to expand across priority areas including climate change and environmental resilience.
Ocean governance and fisheries remain major pillars of the cooperation agenda. Sustainable development and people-to-people exchanges will also frame the Ministerial discussions.
Senior officials met on the 25th of November to confirm arrangements and ensure a coordinated Pacific approach to the talks.
Korea has been a Pacific Islands Forum Dialogue Partner since 1995.
The Ministerial Meeting reflects the enduring value of this long-standing partnership in supporting a resilient and prosperous Blue Pacific Continent.
Pacific Islands Forum Secretary General Baron Divavesi Waqa is leading a delegation from the Forum Secretariat to the high-level meeting.
