Exciting Opportunities in Tuvalu’s Fisheries Sector
The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), in partnership with the Tuvalu Fisheries Authority (TFA), is seeking two experienced advisers to support the next phase of the Tuvalu Fisheries Support Programme (TFSP3). These roles will play a vital part in strengthening fisheries management and building capacity in Tuvalu.
Tuvalu Fisheries Adviser (Offshore)
- Full-time, 3-year contract (with potential extension to 2030)
- Based in Funafuti, Tuvalu
- Focus on offshore fisheries management, policy, compliance, and regional obligations
- Requires 10+ years’ experience in the fisheries sector, with senior management/advisory expertise and Pacific experience preferred

Tuvalu Inshore Fisheries Adviser (IFA)
- Part-time (0.5 FTE), 3-year contract (with potential extension)
- Preferably based in Funafuti, though remote working with extended in-country visits is possible
- Focus on coastal fisheries management, community engagement, aquaculture, and mentoring Community Fisheries Officers
- Requires 10+ years’ experience in coastal fisheries management in developing countries, ideally with Pacific and Tuvalu experience
