SME BUSINESSWOMAN OF THE YEAR
VASEMACA ADITUKANA
Vasemaca Aditukana of Korovou Northland
Centre is the SPBD SME Businesswoman of the
Year 2020.
The award honours SPBD members who took
up the challenge of transforming their micro-
enterprises into SMEs. They must be an existing
SME borrower.
Vasemaca is a full-time market vendor, selling
vegetables, yaqona and fish. She began
the business selling decorations and flower
arrangements before expanding into many other
product types.
Vasemaca has been a SPBD member for five
years and says the transition from a micro-
enterprise to an SME required her to hire
family members and prioritise her workload.
Her ambition is to train her team on customer
service and marketing, buy additional
equipment such as crates, tables and a scale,
and expand to other markets, including local
hotels.
Despite her growing business, Vasemaca Northland Rugby Union for over 20 years, and as
has many other community commitments, coach and captain of the local netball team. She
