The Office of the Vanuatu Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) has confirmed the Government’s Broadband Network has been compromised since Sunday, November 6, 2022.

A statement from the OGCIO relayed that as a result all the online services such as email, network shares, VoIP services and other government online services offered by the government are currently down. This has paralysed all government ministries and department.

The OGCIO said following the incident and its impacts on the Government Broadband Network, it will take time for the services to resume online. The Office assured its staff and stakeholders are currently handling the situation and working to restore the online services.

The OGCIO urges every Ministry and Department have to make sure to activate their Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) and deliver them to the government.

The Office urges all civil servants and the public not to spread misinformation on social media to mislead people.

The OGCIO will continue to provide updates on its progress to restore online government services. Many government services have been put on hold since this disruption. On Monday, the Vanuatu Police Force advised that their Clearance Unit administration is currently on hold due to this issue.
