Solomons police use weapons to detain Australian

AN Australian has been detained in Solomon Islands after allegedly threatening a shopkeeper with a weapon.

Police fire bean bags at the suspect after he refused to surrender.

The shopkeeper called police after the Australian reportedly displayed a weapon in the shop.

When officers arrived on the scene, the man had left. Officers later intercepted the man’s vehicle and instructed him to comply with their orders but he reacted aggressively.

Police later discovered equipment related to the use of methamphetamines in the suspect’s car.
