FIJI has strengthened defence ties with Indonesia after 14 Republic of Fiji Military Forces personnel took part in a major multinational peacekeeping exercise in Bogor.
The RFMF contingent joined Exercise Garuda Canti Dharma III 2026 at the Indonesian Peacekeeping Mission Centre in Sentul, Bogor, Indonesia, where more than 700 military personnel from 22 countries trained for future United Nations peacekeeping operations.
Jointly organised by the Indonesian National Armed Forces and the United States Indo-Pacific Command, the exercise focused on interoperability, leadership and operational readiness through staff planning, field training and multinational coordination.
Fiji’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Ratu Isoa Delamisi Tikoca, attended the Senior Military Leaders Discussion Forum and closing ceremony on behalf of the Fijian Government, underscoring the growing defence partnership between Suva and Jakarta.
For Fiji, whose peacekeepers have served in United Nations missions for decades, the exercise offered another opportunity to sharpen operational skills alongside military personnel from the Indo-Pacific and beyond.
Indonesia has emerged as a regional leader in peacekeeping training, making the exercise an important platform for military cooperation and the exchange of expertise.
The Embassy of the Republic of Fiji in Jakarta congratulated the 14 RFMF personnel for representing the country with distinction and thanked the Government of Indonesia, the Indonesian National Armed Forces and PMPP TNI for their continued partnership and hospitality.
The Embassy said it looked forward to expanding Fiji-Indonesia defence cooperation in support of peace, security and stability across the Indo-Pacific.
