There are reports this hour of the passing away last night of a high chief of Tailevu.
No names have been released as traditional protocol is at play, whereby traditional chiefly households around the country are being informed of the death.
Close family members contacted by IB Online said the chief was rushed to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in a critical condition on Sunday.
He died shortly after admission.
