BAILIFFS have laid siege to Suvavou House in an effort to serve election-related court papers on Fiji’s Cabinet ministers.
Key members of the ruling Fiji First Party have been inside the Attorney-General’s Chambers since mid-morning yesterday (Tuesday).
The Opposition SODELPA and National Federation Party have filed a dispute against the outcome of the November elections and must serve documents to 27 ministers and Members of Parliament, Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem and former Trade Minister, Faiyaz Koya before the case resumes before Justices Anjala Wati and Kamal Kumar.
Sources close to the building owners said guards were instructed to seal off Suvavou House yesterday.
The instructions were later amended to refuse entry to anyone wanting to enter the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
Fiji First ministers and MPs have been conspicuously absent from public events with Trade Minister Premila Kumar missing a meeting with industry representatives today.
Fisheries Minister Semi Koroilavesau has cancelled engagements for a second consecutive day today and did not meet diplomats as planned.
