DAVID Adeang will serve another term as Nauru’s president after he was elected unopposed early this week.
Adeang was re-elected from Ubenide Constituency with parliamentarians Reagan Aliklik, Russ Kun, and Ranin Akua,
Once all results were confirmed and Parliament met, Adeang was elected unopposed while former weightlifting champion, Marcus Stephen, was chosen as speaker of the legislature.
In Aiwo Constituency, Delvin Thoma and Rennier Gadabu took the two available seats, while Charmaine Scotty and Isabella Dageago were elected as representatives of Yaren.
Other representatives are Shadlog Bernicke and Bingham Agir, Timothy Ika, Asterio Appi, Wanganeen Emiu, Maverick Eoe, and Pyon Deiye.
Nauru has a189-member parliament.
Meanwhile, in Tonga, preparations are underway for a general election on November 20.
Supervisor of Election Pita Vuki told Radio New Zealand International that 71 candidates had registered to contest the 17 Peoples’ Representatives seats in Parliament.
