FIJIAN Opposition parties believe they exhausted all avenues to serve election related High Court documents on Fiji First Members of Parliament.
Bailiffs and Opposition MPs waited outside Suvavou House where Acting Prime Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, spent the day with Cabinet and Government members.
The High Court on Tuesday gave SODELPA and the National Federation Party 24 hours to serve individual petitions to the ministers and MPs.
The deadline for service was 6pm yesterday.
But a bailiff who went to the Attorney-General’s Chambers claimed he was turned away three times by guards and staff who claimed they were acting on the instructions of Sayed-Khaiyum.
The bailiff said a soldier guarding the door to the chambers appealed with him not to enter saying (in the iTaukei language): “Please think of my job and my family.”‘
Meals were seen being delivered to the building throughout the day and ministers were spotted on the balcony of Level Nine which houses Sayed-Khaiyum’s office.
