FIJIAN Holdings Limited (FHL) has crossed the $FJD1 billion mark in total assets for the first time, reaching $FJD1.09 billion this financial year as the Group focuses on improving returns from its growing investment portfolio.

FHL chairman Rokoseru Nabalarua told shareholders at the company’s Annual General Meeting today that the milestone reflected years of investment and growth, but also placed greater responsibility on the Group to deliver stronger earnings and sustainable returns.

“Having built a substantial and diversified portfolio, we must now realise its full potential,” he said.

The Group recorded an 11 per cent increase in profit before tax, from $FJD60.3 million to $FJD67 million in FY2026.

However, the results came against rising fuel and operating costs, global uncertainty and slower economic growth in Fiji.

The consolidation of Port Denarau Marina Limited boosted profitability, while an impairment associated with Fletcher Higgins (Fiji) Limited partly offset the improvement.

FHL also acknowledged challenges across some of its investments, particularly Fletcher Higgins, Fiji Television and Life Cinema, which remain under close Board attention.

Nabalarua said the Group was pursuing recovery strategies, operational improvements and possible restructuring to protect shareholder value.

The Group’s increased ownership in Port Denarau Marina strengthened its position in the tourism sector, while FHL Tower achieved full occupancy and began generating income.

FHL also continued investing in resource-owning communities through Nawaibuta in Korovou, Cakaudrove Provincial Holdings Company in Savusavu, CBayview Enterprises in Kalabu and Uluiqoro Investment in Muaivuso.

Despite improved profit, Group borrowings rose 19 per cent to $FJD470.7 million. FHL repaid $FJD15.2 million in wholesale corporate bonds during the year.

The Group declared two interim dividends totalling $FJD8.225 million, with the chairman acknowledging the importance of shareholder returns to provincial councils, village groups, institutions and families.

For FY2027, FHL will prioritise improving profitability and cash generation, strengthening financial resilience and holding management accountable for delivering measurable results.

While the company remains open to new investment opportunities, Nabalarua said its immediate focus would be on generating greater value from the portfolio it had already built.

The chairman said the next phase would require difficult decisions, stronger accountability and a willingness to address underperformance.
