SOUTH Pacific Business Development (SPBD) Fiji has expanded its financial and business support services for rural women entrepreneurs with the opening of a branch in Korovou, Fiji.
Located in Tailevu North, the branch will allow members and people looking for opportunities to grow businesses, better their livelihoods, and access SPBD services closer to home.
Speaking at the opening, Korovou District Officer and Chief Guest Salanieta Baleigau said the milestone marked an important development for the Tailevu North community, especially SPBD members.
She also highlighted the importance of women within families and communities, noting their increase participation in business, employment creation and community development.
“Women have always played an important role in our families, our communities, and our economies. Today, women are increasingly becoming entrepreneurs, business owners, managers, professional and leaders. Their contribution to business is helping create employment, support families and strengthen communities.”
SPBD Fiji General Manager Nitesh Sinha said the new office reflected the network’s commitment to growth, progress and unwavering commitment to serving its members better through improved accessibility and timely services.
“The opening of our Korovou Branch brings us closer to the communities we serve. It allows us to better support our existing members while reaching more women who aspire to establish or expand their businesses. Through access to financing, savings opportunities, financial literacy, and business development support, we hope to make a meaningful difference in the lives of families across Tailevu.”
SPBD Fiji Managing Director Lorraine Seeto congratulated Sinha on his first branch opening since assuming office in mid-August and looked forward “to enhancing SPBD’s relationship with MSME women entrepreneurs to improve the quality of lives of all Fijians.”
