THE Republic of Naoero (Nauru) plans to establish an embassy in Israel and has approved a scoping mission to examine the diplomatic, operational and logistical steps needed to open an embassy.
Cabinet has endorsed the dispatch of the team to Israel, where it will assess “the diplomatic, operational, and logistical requirements necessary for the establishment of the Embassy,” according to the announcement.
The mission will also look for “opportunities for deeper cooperation across a broad spectrum of shared priorities” and identify “practical pathways that reinforce long term partnership and mutual development.”
The government said a diplomatic presence in Israel would provide “an essential platform” for advancing foreign policy priorities, supporting sustainable development and expanding bilateral engagement.
It described the planned embassy as “a significant milestone” that underscores Naoero’s “dedication to expanding its global partnerships in support of national development and strategic cooperation.”
If opened, Naoero’s mission would join a small group of Pacific states with resident embassies in Israel. Papua New Guinea opened one in 2023, while Fiji followed in 2025.
Naoero said it remains committed to “peaceful, constructive, and mutually beneficial international relations” aimed at strengthening the long-term prosperity and resilience of the republic.
