THE proposed Liberation of Fiji Party has submitted a fresh application to Fiji’s Election Office after earlier failing to meet the registration requirements.
Party leaders, Ratu Manoa and Veronica Malani, were vocal critics of FijiFirst under Frank Bainimarama and Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum. They were frequently targeted by the police under orders from Bainimarama and Khaiyum.
Supervisor of Elections, Ana Mataciwa, said her office would publish the proposed party’s application in a newspaper and in the Gazette, as required by law.
This would be followed by an objection period.
Mataiciwa confirmed that the original application failed to meet the minimum required number of members for the Central, Western, Northern and Eastern Divisions.
“During the objections period, any person may submit a written objection to the FEO regarding the party’s application for registration. The FEO will assess and respond to all objections within seven days of receipt after allowing the proposed party to respond and afterwards inform both the objectors and the applicant party of its decision,” Mataciwa said.
