The Fijian Drua have terminated the contract of superstar winger Vinaya Habosi, effective immediately.
Habosi was the breakout star of Super Rugby Pacific, with the 23-year-old’s lighting pace on the wing providing the expansion club with a genuine X-Factor.
However, the Drua have announced he has been released from the club after a ‘high-level breach’ of their code of conduct.
“The Fijian Drua today confirmed that player Vinaya Habosi has had his contract terminated with immediate effect, due to a high-level breach of the Club’s Code of Conduct,” the statement read.
“The decision was made after careful consideration, and full due process was accorded to Vinaya throughout the process.
“The Fijian Drua will not comment further on this matter.”
Habosi made his debut against the NSW Waratahs in round one in 2022, going on to play 11 games for the Fijian side.
He burst onto the scene as the season progressed, scoring five tries in seven games to earn himself a call-up to the Fijian side.
The winger made his Test debut during the Pacific Nations Cup against Tonga, scoring on debut during their 36-0 win.
He would play six games for the Fijian national team, including scoring a double against the French Barbarians in November.
Fijiana Drua welcomes Rasolea
Meanwhile, Australia-based prop Siteri Rasolea is heading to Fiji to join the Super W champions.
The Fiji Rugby Union confirms that Rasolea will team up with the Fijiana Drua this season.
Rasolea is well remembered for her inspirational performance for the Fijiana against South Africa at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand three months ago where she was named Player of the Match.
She was the third in her family to represent Fiji on the world stage.
The Naitasiri lass is following the footsteps of her father Solomone Rasolea and brother Junior Rasolea who were both Fiji reps during their time.
Her dad played for Nadi and the Flying Fijians in the 1980s while her brother was a Fiji Under-20 representative.
