        A mother casts her vote in the Solomon Islands general election, this one marking its first-ever joint elections
        for both national and provincial governments. More than 300,000 registered voters turned out to cast their
        ballots, with a total of 334 candidates vying for seats across 50 constituencies in the parliamentary elections
        of the 2024 Joint Election. Among these candidates, 20 were women, with East Makira boasting the highest
