The Nauru Electoral Commission (NEC) says candidates’ nominations open at 9 am on September 4 and close on September 10 at 5 pm. However, those wishing to withdraw their candidacy can do so before or by 5 pm on September 13.
Early mobile voting starts on September 19, and the people can look forward to polling day on Saturday the 24th of September.
The NEC further advises:
- Voting on Polling Day will start at 7 am and close at 6 am.
- Early voting is now open to all voters who wish to use this service. The information on locations and timings will be released by NEC soon.
Voters who are living overseas are reminded that the NEC will be accepting proxy applications between September 3-22. People are encouraged to complete the application as early as possible due to the processing time.
The latest data from the NEC indicates that 14% of voters are women, 86% men, and that voters across Nauru’s eight constituencies total 8054 voters in number.
