LAE City Dwellers from PNG outclassed New Zealand’s Tupapa Maraerenga Football Cup in a convincing 4 – 1 win at Lautoka’s Churchill Park in the opening tie of the OFC Men’s Champions League.
Lae City was hot on attack very early, applying the pressure deep inside Tupapa’s danger zone until Solomon Kamake drilled in the first goal in the 16th minute mark.
Two minutes before halftime, Lae City increased their lead after Nalau Moses fired a fantastic cross from a corner kick which bounced off the defence into goal.
Moses struck in the 52nd minute but Tremaine Rimene-Albrett managed clawed back a goal for Tupapa in the 72nd minute.
Ruel Api nailed the final goal of the match to guarantee the win for Lae City.
Lae City Dwellers will play against ABM Galaxy while Tupapa will take on Rewa FC on Wednesday.
