Peter Roberts is Australia’s new High Commissioner to Fiji.
He will replace Ewen McDonald who is moving to Papua New Guinea.
Roberts is currently the Deputy Head of Mission, Australian Embassy, Tokyo.
“Australia and Fiji share a deep relationship based on mutual trust and respect, guided by the Fiji-Australia Vuvale Partnership, and a common interest in a peaceful, prosperous, and resilient region,” said Australia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Penny Wong.
“We have shared priorities and values, strengthening our economies. acting on climate change and
protecting the environment; deepening connections between our people and enhancing our defence
and security cooperation.”
Peter Roberts has also served as Ambassador to Timor-Leste and has also worked in Samoa, Japan and as a Senior Civilian Monitor in Bougainville, Papua New Guinea.
