TWO men and a woman from Bougainville have been found after being reported missing at sea 70 days ago.
Details remain sketchy but NBC Radio in Papua New Guinea reports the three were reported missing when they failed to arrive at Buka Island after departing Nissan.
It is understood the three were found at sea and have been transported to Kiribati, suggesting they drifted around 4000 kilometres.
“They went missing on July 18 while travelling from Nissan to Buka Island. While travelling on their boat to Buka, their vessel ran out of (fuel), leaving them stranded at sea,” NBC Radio reported.
Further details on the rescue, such as the name of the vessel that found them, their locations when rescued, and the condition of the three are not available at this time.
