TRAVEL between the Solomon Islands and Hong Kong will become easier from August 26, when a reciprocal visa-free arrangement takes effect.
The agreement will allow Solomon Islands passport holders and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region permanent residents with valid HKSAR passports to enter, exit, transit and stay in each other’s territories for up to 30 days without a visa.
It follows an exchange of diplomatic notes between the Solomon Islands Embassy in Beijing and the Hong Kong SAR Government.
The Solomon Islands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade said the arrangement marks another milestone in strengthening ties and is expected to boost tourism, business, investment and people-to-people exchanges.
The ministry acknowledged the Solomon Islands Embassy in Beijing and Hong Kong SAR authorities for finalising the agreement.
The visa waiver is expected to make travel more convenient and support closer economic and commercial links with one of Asia’s leading financial and business hubs.
